CIMG0376Paul and I met on new years eve at the beginning of 2007, and have spent most of the time since travelling and are now planning to emigrate to Australia.  Prior to that we will hopefully complete the bike ride though...

Over the last few years, I have quite literally turned my life upside down, going from being married, with a nice car and good job, to turning my back on all of that, selling up, and heading to South America, followed by this project.  Prior to all of this I discovered running, completing London Marathon back in 2002, deciding quite quickly that road running was not so interesting my next challenge 2 years later was to complete the Marathon Des Sables (a 155 mile self sufficient foot race through the Moroccan Sahara Desert).  This led me on to taking part in some other races, including the Verdon Trail Aventure, Tough Guy and the Jungle Marathon (which I have completed as the first lady for the last 2 years and hope to do the same this year!).

Over the last 8 months (from August 07 until April 08), we have travelled extensively around South America, including climbing several large mountains (including an attempt on Aconcagua), various long treks, the Jungle Marathon again, me competing and Paul on the support crew, and numerous other challenges.

Prior to heading to South America, we both had our own houses, jobs, cars, and were living what most would class as a normal life.  All of that has now been sold - being home for the summer doing all the preparation for this expedition, we are both crashing with long suffering family!

It is now time to move on to another challenge, and having been inspired by various people and stories, we came up with the idea of this bike ride, originally planning to do it by ourselves, just for the challenge, and then later decided to do it in aid of charity, hopefully raise a substantial amount of money, and try and get some media exposure at the same time.
